Our members Representacoes Proinde, Santos, have advised that 15th November is a Public Holiday in Brazil.

Their offices -as many others- will be closed that day.

SAPIC Held AGM in Viña del Mar

On 13th October 2010, four SAPIC members, representing four absent members, held SAPIC's 2010 AGM in the beautiful city of Viña del Mar, Chile.

As on previous occasions, a fruitful discussion of mutual matters was had and pleasant time was had by all present.

Highlights

One of the main topics discussed were some formal amendments to the Statutes. The most interesting, perhaps, is that applications will now be received any month of the year and discussed at the first AGM held immediately thereafter.

Planning how celebrate SAPIC's 10th Anniversary during 2011 also commenced and some interesting ideas were put forward regarding the latter.

Also of interest was the election of office bearers. Capt. Alejandro Laborde was re-elected for 9th year running as Spokesman and Mr. Andrew Cave ditto as Treasurer.

Next AGM

Venues for the next AGM were proposed - London, Bariloche, Buenos Aires, Montevideo or Foiz De Iaguzú. All will depend on what is decided regarding celebrating the 10th Anniversary and availability of the members.

Uruguay Updates Telephone Numbering

Our members, Chadwick Weir Navegación S.A., have advised that Uruguay is to update it telephone numbering system on a ntaional scale.

The new system goes online at 02:00 hrs local time on 27th August.

SAPIC AGM 2010

The date and venue for the SAPIC AGM2010 has been decided.

The AGM will be held at 11.00 hrs on 13th October 2010, at the Marina del Rey Hotel in the city of Viña del Mar, Chile.

The Carriage of Goods in the 21st Century

Our member Chadwick Weir Navegación S.A. (Capt. Alejandro Laborde) has recently participated as a speaker at a Conference held in Montevideo, Uruguay, on the subject "The International Carriage of Goods in the XXI Century".

At the conference, Capt. Laborde presented a very interesting paper on the Rotterdam Rules. The paper in its Spanish and English version are freely available by following the menus News > News from Uruguay > Downloads. Also available is the brochure (in Spanish) of the Conference.

We congratulate Capt. Laborde on his excellent work.

Life Begins at 40!

On 1st July Pandi Liquidadores srl, founding members of SAPIC, completed 40 years of continuous operation serving the P&IU CLubs and their members as correspondents.

The company, run by Mr. Alberto Trigub, son of the founder, and is now joined by his son Nicolás.

Our congratulations to the owners, managers and staff of Pandi on this auspicious anniversary!
