Our member Chadwick Weir Navegación S.A. (Capt. Alejandro Laborde) has recently participated as a speaker at a Conference held in Montevideo, Uruguay, on the subject "The International Carriage of Goods in the XXI Century".

At the conference, Capt. Laborde presented a very interesting paper on the Rotterdam Rules. The paper in its Spanish and English version are freely available by following the menus News > News from Uruguay > Downloads. Also available is the brochure (in Spanish) of the Conference.

A new regulation has recently been issued by the Coast Guard Authorities by which, they will require that immigration regulations are complied with by foreign surveyors working on board vessels calling at Uruguayan ports or anchored in territorial waters.
